Cardizem CD Drug Interactions (Cont.)

Digoxin (Digitek, Lanoxin)
Cardizem CD may increase the level of digoxin in your blood (although studies have had conflicting results). Since changes in digoxin levels can be dangerous, your healthcare provider should monitor the level of digoxin in your blood and adjust your dosage as necessary. Your healthcare provider should also monitor your heart rate, since Cardizem CD and digoxin can both lower it.

Lovastatin (Mevacor)
Cardizem CD can increase the level of lovastatin in your blood, potentially increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your lovastatin dosage as a result.

Quinidine
Cardizem CD can increase the level of quinidine in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your quinidine dosage to prevent this interaction from occurring.

Rifampin (Rifadin)
Rifampin can greatly decrease the level of Cardizem CD in your blood, making it much less effective. In general, these medications should not be combined.
