Calan
® (
verapamil hydrochloride) is a prescription medication that is approved to treat certain types of irregular heart rhythms,
high blood pressure, and chest pain. The drug works by relaxing the blood vessels to improve blood flow and to make it easier for the heart to pump blood. Side effects of Calan may include nausea,
headaches, and dizziness.
In order for Calan to work properly, you must take it as prescribed. Calan tablets are taken by mouth typically three or four times a day. If you do not take your Calan as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of Calan.
