Have severe left ventricular dysfunction (the left side of your heart is weak or damaged).
Have sick sinus syndrome and do not have a pacemaker.
Have third- or second-degree heart block and do not have a pacemaker.
Have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome or Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome.
Are having a heart attack and have fluid in your lungs.
