Toprol-XL Medicine

Toprol-XL® (metoprolol succinate) is approved for several uses, such as treating high blood pressure, angina, and congestive heart failure. The medicine comes in the form of a tablet that is typically taken once a day with food or immediately following a meal.
 
Because not everyone can take this prescription medication, review Toprol-XL's safety information with your healthcare provider before starting treatment. For instance, you may not be able to take Toprol-XL if you have certain medical conditions, such as kidney disease, diabetes, or asthma. Also, you may not be able to use Toprol-XL safely if you are currently taking certain products (including some vitamins, herbal supplements, and nonprescription drugs).
 
Although most people do not experience problems with this medication, Toprol-XL can cause side effects. Some of the common side effects include tiredness, diarrhea, and dizziness.
