Monopril-HCT Medicine

Though not a cure, Monopril®-HCT (fosinopril sodium-hydrochlorothiazide) can be used as a treatment for high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. It works to lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and reducing the blood volume. This drug comes in the form of a tablet that is taken once a day.

Monopril-HCT is a combination of two medications: monopril and hydrochlorothiazide. In clinical studies, combining the drugs resulted in a greater drop in blood pressure than when either medicine was used alone. Monopril-HCT is sold in two strengths. The one your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may currently be taking
  • How you respond to Monopril-HCT.
  •
