Cardizem CD Medicine Info

People with either high blood pressure (hypertension) or chest pain (angina) may be prescribed Cardizem CD® (diltiazem hydrochloride) as part of their treatment plan. This medication works by slowing down the rate at which calcium moves into the blood vessel walls, which causes the vessels to relax and reduces the workload on the heart.

Information on Cardizem CD's side effects should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment. Possible adverse reactions include headache, water retention (edema), and weakness. These are generally mild and easily treated; however, potentially serious problems, such as an allergic reaction, should be reported to your healthcare provider right away.
