Drug Interactions With Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide

Some of the medications that could cause drug interactions with bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide include barbiturates, bile-acid sequestrants, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and narcotics. These interactions could reduce the effectiveness of the medicines or increase your risk of developing extremely low blood pressure, dangerously slow heart rate, heart failure, strokes, or other serious problems.

 Bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide (Ziac®) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Barbiturates, such as:
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)

  • Certain arrhythmia medications, such as:
 
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Lidocaine (Xylocaine®)
    • Propafenone (Rythmol®)
    • Quinidine
    • Sotalol (Betapace®)
 
 
    • Betamethasone (Celestone®)
    • Cortisone
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
    • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
    • Prednisolone (Ovapred®, Pediapred®)
    • Prednisone

  • Reserpine
