Benicar Risks

Certain risks are associated with

Benicar^® (olmesartan medoxomil) that you should be aware of before starting treatment. Although most people have no problems with this medication, it is not suitable for everyone. For example, you should talk to your healthcare provider before taking Benicar if you have:

Heart disease, including congestive heart failure
Liver disease, including cirrhosis
Kidney disease or kidney failure
Any allergies, including to other angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), foods, dyes, or preservatives.

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Benicar. Some of the potentially dangerous side effects that should be reported to your healthcare provider include dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting spells. These may be signs of extremely low blood pressure, which is a potential risk of Benicar.
