Benicar Blood Pressure Medicine

Benicar® (
olmesartan medoxomil) is a medicine used to control high blood pressure and reduce the risks associated with long-term hypertension. It is approved only for use in adults.

By blocking the effects of angiotensin II (a chemical in the body), Benicar causes blood vessels to relax, which can lower blood pressure. Clinical studies show that this medication is effective at lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressures.

This medicine comes in tablet form and is available in three different strengths. It is typically taken once a day, with or without food. The actual Benicar dosage that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on how you respond to the drug, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking.
