If you have high blood pressure, a healthcare provider may prescribe Benicar® (olmesartan medoxomil). This prescription medication is only approved for use in adults and works by relaxing the blood vessels. Before your healthcare provider prescribes Benicar, he or she will consider several factors, including other medical conditions you have and other medications you may be taking. Benicar comes in tablet form and is usually taken once a day. There are currently no generic versions of this medication available.
