AZOR Side Effects

Dizziness, water retention, and heart palpitations are among the most common side effects reported with AZOR. Side effects are typically minor and can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, some AZOR side effects may be serious. You should seek immediate medical care if you develop side effects such as chest pain, an irregular heart rhythm, or a decrease in urine output.

 

An Introduction to AZOR Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with AZOR™ (amlodipine and olmesartan). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Possible AZOR Side Effects

AZOR is a combination of two medications,
 amlodipine (Norvasc®) and olmesartan (Benicar®). The components of AZOR have been studied individually in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and then compared to the side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.
 
In studies, the only side effect of the olmesartan (Benicar) component of AZOR was dizziness (occurring in 3 percent of people). The most common side effects of the amlodipine (Norvasc) component of AZOR included:
 
  • Swelling or water retention (edema) -- in up to 10.8 percent of people
  • Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (heart palpitations) -- up to 4.5 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 3.4 percent
  • Flushing (redness of the skin, especially the face) -- up to 2.6 percent.
