An Introduction to Dosing With Avalide
The dose of
Avalide® (
irbesartan/HCTZ) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your blood pressure
- How you respond to the medication
- Other medications you are taking
- Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
Avalide Dosage for High Blood Pressure
The typical recommended initial dosage of Avalide for people just starting blood pressure treatment is 150/2.
5 mg once a day. If this amount does not adequately control your blood pressure, your healthcare provider may increase your dose after one to two weeks of treatment.
If you have already been taking one of the medications in Avalide and your blood pressure is not adequately controlled, your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a higher Avalide dosage.
If you have been taking both medications in Avalide as separate pills, and your blood pressure is controlled, you will likely be started on a similar dose of Avalide. If your blood pressure is not adequately controlled on the individual Avalide components, your healthcare provider may choose to increase the dose of one of the components when you start Avalide.
The maximum recommended Avalide dose is 300/25 mg once daily.
