Time of Day to Take Atenolol
Atenolol (Tenormin®) is a prescription medication approved for treating high blood pressure and chest pain caused by angina. It can also be used to improve survival following a heart attack. Atenolol comes in tablet form and is typically taken once a day.
Although it does not matter what time of day atenolol is taken, it is recommended that you take the medication at the same time each day. This helps to maintain an even level of atenolol in your blood. If you do not take your atenolol dosage as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing.
(Click Atenolol Dose for more information on when it is best to take atenolol, to find out how dosing works for this medication, and to learn about the factors that healthcare providers consider before making dosing recommendations.)
