Drug Interactions With Atenolol

Some of the drugs that can potentially interact with atenolol include ampicillin, reserpine, and antacids containing calcium. Drug interactions with atenolol can decrease your blood pressure too much, slow your heart rate dramatically, and increase the effects of certain types of diabetes medicines, among other things. Reserpine
If you take atenolol with reserpine, your
blood pressure may decrease too much or your heart rate may slow dramatically. This can cause symptoms such as a spinning sensation (vertigo), lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting. If atenolol and reserpine are taken together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your situation more closely and/or adjust your dose of these medicines.
