As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Atacand. However, not everyone who takes Atacand will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate Atacand well. When Atacand side effects do occur, they are often minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.

Upper respiratory infection, such as the common cold or flu
High potassium levels in the blood (in people with congestive heart failure).
