Atacand HCT Interactions
It is important to be aware of potential Atacand HCT drug interactions with other medications, such as diuretics, potassium supplements, or other blood pressure medication. These potential drug interactions can cause your body to metabolize the medications differently than intended and can lead to problems. Therefore, you should talk to your healthcare provider about any Atacand HCT interactions that may apply to you.
An Overview of Atacand HCT Drug Interactions
Atacand HCT® (candesartan cilexetil-hydrochlorothiazide) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these Atacand HCT interactions can include:- Diuretics, such as torsemide (Demadex®), furosemide (Lasix®), hydrochlorothiazide, and others
- Potassium supplements or salt substitutes with potassium
- Potassium-sparing diuretics, such as spironolactone (Aldactone®), triamterene (Dyrenium®), and amiloride (Midamor®), among others
- Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithane®, Lithonate®, Lithotabs®)
- Insulin
- Oral diabetes medications
- Other blood pressure medicine
- Alcohol
- Barbiturates, such as:
- Narcotics, such as codeine, morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone
- Cholestyramine (Prevalite®, Questran®, Questran® Light, LoCholest®)
- Colestipol (Colestid®)
- Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, hydrocortisone (Cortef®), dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexone®, Hexadrol®), and many others
- Norepinephrine
- Corticotropin (Acthar®)
- Muscle relaxants, such as tubocurarine
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
- Celecoxib (Celebrex®)
- Diclofenac (Cambia™, Cataflam®, Flector®, Pennsaid®, Solaraze® Gel, Voltaren®, Voltaren® Gel, Voltaren®-XR, Voltaren Ophthalmic®, Zipsor™)
- Etodolac (Lodine®, Lodine® XL)
- Ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®, Nuprin®)
- Indomethacin (Indocin®, Indocin SR®)
- Ketoprofen (Orudis®, Actron®, Oruvail®)
- Ketorolac (Sprix™, Toradol®)
- Meloxicam (Mobic®)
- Nabumetone (Relafen®)
- Naproxen (Naprosyn®) or naproxen sodium (Aleve®, Anaprox®, Naprelan®)
- Oxaprozin (Daypro®)
- Piroxicam (Feldene®)
