Amturnide Drug Interactions
While taking Amturnide, do not take any potassium products unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so. The hydrochlorothiazide in Amturnide can cause low potassium levels, however, so this interaction may be somewhat unpredictable. Some people taking Amturnide might develop low potassium due to the hydrochlorothiazide and may need potassium supplementation.
Combining Amturnide with medications that contain triamterene can increase your risk for high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia). Your healthcare provider should check your potassium levels regularly. However, the hydrochlorothiazide in Amturnide can counteract this effect, since hydrochlorothiazide can cause low potassium levels, so this interaction may be somewhat unpredictable.
