Drug Interactions With Aliskiren-HCTZ

More Information on Interactions With Aliskiren-HCTZ

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when aliskiren-HCTZ is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

ACE Inhibitors
Combining aliskiren-HCTZ with an ACE inhibitor may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.

Combining these medications may also increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension) and kidney failure. Aliskiren-HCTZ should never be combined with an ACE inhibitor in people with diabetes, because they may have a higher risk for these complications. Also, such combinations are not recommended for people with moderate-to-severe kidney problems.

Amiloride Products (Midamor, Moduretic)
Taking aliskiren-HCTZ with amiloride may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.

Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)
Combining aliskiren-HCTZ with an ARB may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.

Combining these medications may also increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension) and kidney failure. Aliskiren-HCTZ should never be combined with an ARB in people with diabetes, because they may have a higher risk for these complications. Also, such combinations are not recommended for people with moderate-to-severe kidney problems.
