Generic Adalat

Generic Adalat CC is currently sold under three names, Nifedipine extended-release, Nifediac CC, and Afeditab CR tablets. These generic versions of Adalat CC are available in a number of strengths and are manufactured by several companies. The FDA has assigned generic Adalat CC an "AB" rating, meaning the generic versions of Adalat CC are as good as the brand-name medication.

 

An Overview of Generic Adalat

Adalat CC® (nifedipine) is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It is part of a group of medications called calcium channel blockers.
 
Adalat CC was first manufactured by Bayer Pharmaceuticals. However, it has come off patent and is available as a generic.
 

Strengths of Generic Adalat

Generic Adalat CC tablets are available in the following strengths:
 
  • Nifedipine extended-release 30 mg tablets
  • Nifedipine extended-release 60 mg tablets
  • Nifedipine extended-release 90 mg tablets.
     
A few generic manufacturers have chosen to market generic Adalat CC under different names (Nifediac CC® and Afeditab CR®). These products are available in the following strengths:
 
  • Nifediac CC 30 mg tablets
  • Nifediac CC 60 mg tablets
  • Nifediac CC 90 mg tablets
  • Afeditab CR 30 mg tablets
  • Afeditab CR 60 mg tablets.
     
Afeditab CR 90 mg tablets are currently not available.
