Accuretic Drug Interactions

When other blood pressure medicines, alcohol, or insulin are taken together Accuretic, drug interactions may potentially develop. Interactions may cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended or result in side effects such as extremely low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances, or high blood sugar levels. Other medications that may react with Accuretic include barbiturates, diuretics, and oral diabetes medicines.

An Introduction to Interactions With Accuretic

 Accuretic® (quinapril HCL-hydrochlorothiazide) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these drug interactions with Accuretic can include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Barbiturates, such as:
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butabarbital (Butisol Sodium®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Primidone (Mysoline®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Thiopental (Pentothal®)
 
 
 
  
  • Narcotics, such as codeine, morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
