Accuretic Drug Interactions
Bile Acid Sequestrants
Bile acid sequestrants can bind to Accuretic in the digestive tract and decrease its absorption into the body. To avoid this drug interaction, Accuretic should be taken at least one hour before or four to six hours after a bile acid sequestrant has been given.
Taking corticosteroids with Accuretic may cause an electrolyte imbalance, especially with the levels of potassium in the blood. If you are taking a corticosteroid with Accuretic, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of medicine as needed.
Taking a diabetes medication with Accuretic may increase blood sugar levels. For your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of diabetes medications as needed.
When taking Accuretic with a diuretic, your blood pressure may decrease too much. This is more likely to occur when Accuretic is first started. In order to decrease the chances of this interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Accuretic, and/or monitor you more closely.
Reactions have been reported in people taking Accuretic who received gold injections. These reactions included symptoms such as facial flushing, nausea, vomiting, and low blood pressure.
