An Introduction to Dosing With Accupril
The dose of
Accupril® (
quinapril hydrochloride) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your age
- The medical condition you are being treated for
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may be currently taking.
As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Accupril Dosage for High Blood Pressure
If you have high blood pressure and are already taking a diuretic (water pill), have kidney disease, or are older, your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a lower dose of Accupril, such as Accupril 5 mg.
Accupril Dosage for Congestive Heart Failure
The recommended starting dose of Accupril for most people with
congestive heart failure is Accupril 5 mg twice a day. Based on the response and/or side effects, the amount may be increased or decreased. Most people take an average of 20 mg to 40 mg a day, divided into two equal doses (Accupril 10 mg to 20 mg twice a day).
